Gemini (Google) Setup Guide

This guide will help you configure your Google Gemini API Key in Chatbox to use Gemini 1.5 Pro, Gemini 2.0 Flash, and other models.

Getting an API Key

Step 1: Visit Google AI Studio

1. Visit Google AI Studio
2. Sign in with your Google account
3. Accept the terms of service

Step 2: Create an API Key

1. Click "Get API key" in the left menu
2. Click "Create API key"
3. Select or create a Google Cloud project
4. Copy the generated API Key

Google AI Studio provides free quota, suitable for personal and development testing use.

Paid Usage (Optional)

For higher usage, you can enable the Gemini API in Google Cloud Console and set up a billing account.

Configure in Chatbox

Step 1: Open Settings

1. Open the Chatbox app
2. Click the "Settings" entry in the bottom left
3. Select "AI Provider" or "Model Settings"

Step 2: Add Google Gemini

1. Click "Add Provider"
2. Select "Google Gemini"
3. Paste your key in the "API Key" field
4. Keep API Host as default

Common Issues

API Key Not Working

Cause: Free call limit exceeded

Solutions:
